The conflict
Legal documents are written by lawyers, for lawyers. But, contracts are intended to be used by sales people and other business partners, who are rarely legally trained.
Designing processes and documents specifically for departments themselves encourages stakeholder engagement, increases business autonomy and ultimately enhances deal speed.
For FINTRAIL, the way legal processes, documents and services were delivered needed a shake-up. Out with the legalese, in with the accessible language.
This is where we came in.
The approach
For us, the solution was a simple one: legal design. We believe the user’s needs and preferences should come first.
Applying design-thinking methodology to law, The Law Boutique created a range of bespoke legal documents that truly reflect FINTRAIL’s brand and tone of voice, improving the end-users’ overall experience.
We engaged with FINTRAIL to determine who would ultimately consume these documents, define what their needs were, and incorporated their feedback into the redesigned agreements. This allowed us to create a suite of documents that were fit for purpose.
